INFORMATION FOR CLIENTS

Women’s Empowerment Support

Bridges offers some specialist services that are aimed at women clients who are isolated in the city and who may be denied other opportunities due to lack of child care, poor English, no previous work experience or training.

We run short 6 day courses over 3 weeks, which bring women together from across the city and help them form friendships and networks.

Through group work and individual support you will identify your skills, understand how your past experiences can be valuable in building a new life, and we help each of you develop a Personal Action Plan and to identify short, medium and long term goals.

Typically we have helped women get into College to study English, arranged volunteering opportunities or work placements, others have taken up night classes. Many of the women who have been through the courses which have run since 2008 are regular clients of Bridges now and have returned for a wide range of help. Some have gone into work, some are studying for HNCs and HNDs at College, one or to have even started applying for University.

The courses are only delivered by female members of staff and are fun as well as educational.

Childcare is provided on site, paid for by Bridges and travel expenses are also paid.

The course is open to ALL our women clients no matter what your immigration status. It is a particularly good course if you are still an asylum seeker waiting on a decision about your case.

You will be offered the additional support of a mentor, who can help you take the next steps on your journey. You can find out more information on our mentoring page.

To find out more and when the next courses will be running please complete the Womens' Empowerment registration form.
