INFORMATION FOR CLIENTS
Bridges provides a mentoring service for vulnerable women and young people under the age of 25. A mentor is someone who can use their own life and experiences to help you integrate into life in the UK and help you identify your goals.
It will help you form clear ideas about your future, help you access leisure opportunities as well as educational ad employment opportunities.
Our mentors are friendly approachable people who have been trained how to work with people from different countries. They understand the asylum system and also appreciate some of the difficulties you might face from time to time.
If you feel isolated or are lacking in confidence maybe because of lack of money, or poor English, or you have no friends, then maybe a Bridges mentor could help you.
The things that a mentor can help you with are helping you achieve small steps towards a bigger goal, help you understand what your opportunities are, help you identify solutions to your problem and have fun with you.
Your mentor would meet you every two or three weeks for about two hours maybe over coffee to talk to you about any worries or concerns or how you are getting on. Your mentor will also phone you once a week between meetings.
Mentors are also a good way of you getting to know the city if you have only just arrived or you are not confident about getting about on your own.
Our mentoring services are only available to you if you are already a Bridges client and are usually offered once we have had a chance to assess what your special needs are.
If you are registered with Bridges and think you would lie some more help, contact the office on 0141 445 4464 and ask to speak to Regine or fill out the referral form and send it to us.
